We are currently recruiting for the position of High School English Teacher and Reading Specialist for the 2024–2025 school year.
High School English Teacher and Reading Specialist Committed to fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning, KYHS is seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher who can bring creativity and innovation to the classroom while also focusing on addressing the reading needs of our students.
The successful candidate will inspire a love of literature, foster strong language skills, provide specialized support for students with varying reading levels, and will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and success.
Candidates should have a degree in English, education, special education, or a related field as well as a reading Specialist Certification or equivalent experience in reading intervention.
In addition, candidates should possess substantial experience in designing and delivering English curriculum and reading instruction, comprehensive knowledge of discipline-specific curriculum and instruction methods, strong organizational and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Duties & Responsibilities Teach at least 20 periods per week, develop and deliver engaging lessons that are consistent with course content and objectives, and give assessments that challenge students to think critically and creatively.
Foster a love of literature and effective communications skills among students and develop a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
Stay current on educational trends, research, and best practices in English education and utilize evidence-based practices to improve students’ reading skills.
Develop and implement targeted reading interventions to support struggling readers.
Collaborate with other educators, parents, and specialists to identify and address reading difficulties among students and implement targeted interventions.
Utilize effective behavior management strategies to promote a respectful and focused learning atmosphere.
Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and intervention skills.
